9/23/2008 - (Sarajevo, 22/09/2008) - First three Local Action Groups (LAG), first to have a formal registration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, have been promoted in Sarajevo today within the third phase of SUTRA program (implemented by UNDP and funded by the European Union - 4 million Euro, local authorities through the BiH Return Fund - 2 million Euro, UNDP - 200,000 Euro, UNHCR - 256,000 Euro and partner municipalities - 596,000 Euro, making total of close to 7.052 million Euro), together with their respective rural development projects. First LAGs in BiH are local, inter-municipal associations dedicated to support rural development and cooperate with the civil society and local business sector in the following regions – Doboj (Municipalities of Doboj and Maglaj), Una-Sana (Municipalities of Bužim, Bosanska Krupa and Sanski Most) i GOZB (Municipalities of Drvar, Bosanski Petrovac, Glamoč and Bosansko Grahovo).

WWW.NGO.BA WILL BE TRANSFERED TO AN NGO

Starting the first official internet portal for NGOs in Bosnia and Herzegovina (www.ngo.ba) was an excellent move. This could be concluded, first of all, on the basis of positive reactions of the third sector representatives – NGOs and CSOs. However, even the greatest of optimists could not presume and expect the www.ngo.ba to become a relevant factor and inexhaustible source of information for all dealing with the third sector directly or indirectly. The idea of the NGO sector „emerging“ in media such as the internet, initiated by UNDP SUTRA project, has grown into a relevant, reliable and regular source of quality information. For some, it is a „one stop shop“ for NGO sector. One of the goals of this thematic internet portal, besides the promotion and monitoring of the work of NGOs, is promotion of the ideas of the European Union and Euro-Atlantic integration. Nearly 350,000 visitors, who have visited this internet portal from the date of its official presentation on 10 February 2006, bear witness that these are not just phrases.
